Community Rules

Our Mission: Build a trusted, respectful community of gamers who swap games safely and fairly. These rules help us maintain that community for everyone.

1. Respect & Courtesy

✅ DO

  • Treat all users with respect and kindness
  • Respond to messages promptly (within 24 hours)
  • Be honest and transparent in all communications
  • Use appropriate language in all conversations
  • Respect other users' time and boundaries
  • Acknowledge mistakes if you make them

❌ DON'T

  • Harass, bully, or threaten other users
  • Use offensive, abusive, or discriminatory language
  • Spam or send unwanted messages
  • Ignore messages without explanation
  • Share other users' personal information
  • Create multiple accounts to bypass suspensions

2. Honest Game Listings

✅ DO

  • Accurately describe game condition (Like New, Good, Fair, Poor)
  • List all included items (discs, cases, manuals, accessories)
  • Upload clear photos showing the actual condition
  • Disclose any damage, scratches, or defects
  • Verify you own the game before listing
  • Update listings if condition changes
  • Mark games as "unavailable" when you're swapping them

❌ DON'T

  • Misrepresent game condition to seem better than it is
  • List counterfeit, damaged, or non-functional games as "working"
  • Use misleading or fake photos
  • List games you don't own or have the right to swap
  • Intentionally omit information about damage or issues
  • List digital codes or accounts as physical games

3. Fair Swapping Practices

✅ DO

  • Honor swap agreements once accepted
  • Complete swaps within agreed timeframes
  • Inspect items before finalizing the swap
  • Provide the game in the condition described
  • Be flexible about rescheduling if legitimate issues arise
  • Communicate promptly if problems occur

❌ DON'T

  • Back out of swaps without legitimate reason
  • No-show or fail to communicate before a meetup
  • Send different items than what was agreed upon
  • Claim items were damaged if you caused the damage
  • Request refunds or compensation outside the platform
  • Manipulate the system with fake swaps or fake reviews

4. Trust Score System

Your trust score reflects your reputation on MySwapDeck. It's calculated based on your behavior and is used by other users to decide whether to swap with you.

How Trust Score Works

  • Starts at: 0 (organic users) or 0.5 (invited by another user)
  • +0.1 per swap: Each completed swap increases your score slightly
  • +0.2 per 5-star review: Positive reviews boost your trust
  • +0.5 per verified invite: Inviting trusted friends earns you points
  • -0.3 per negative review: Bad reviews impact your score
  • -1.0 per report: Confirmed violations drop your score significantly

What Trust Score Means

4.0+

Excellent reputation. Highly trusted member of the community.

3.0-3.9

Good reputation. Reliable swapper with positive feedback.

1.5-2.9

Fair reputation. Be cautious; check recent reviews carefully.

Below 1.5

Low reputation. Consider finding another swap partner.

5. Prohibited Content & Activities

The following are strictly prohibited:

🚫 Fraud & Scams

Intentionally deceiving users, sending fake items, demanding extra money, or any form of theft.

🚫 Counterfeit & Illegal Items

Listing fake games, bootleg copies, or games obtained illegally.

🚫 Harassment & Discrimination

Any form of bullying, threats, hate speech, or discrimination based on gender, race, religion, etc.

🚫 Manipulation & Abuse

Creating fake accounts, manipulating reviews, or exploiting the platform in any way.

🚫 Adult & Harmful Content

Sharing explicit, violent, or otherwise harmful content on the platform.

🚫 Off-Platform Transactions

Asking users to communicate or transact outside MySwapDeck (except for location coordination).

6. Consequences for Violations

We enforce these rules to protect our community. Violations result in progressive consequences:

⚠️ First Warning

For minor violations (rude messages, unresponsiveness), you'll receive a warning and explanation of the issue.

🚷 Temporary Suspension

For repeated violations or serious issues (fraud attempts, harassment), your account is suspended for 7-30 days.

❌ Permanent Ban

For egregious violations (confirmed fraud, serious threats, counterfeit items), your account is permanently terminated. All listings are removed and you cannot rejoin under a different account.

Appeals: If you believe you were wrongly suspended, contact support@myswapdeck.com with details.

7. How to Report Violations

🚨 Reporting a User

  1. Go to the user's profile
  2. Click the "Report" button
  3. Select the reason (fraud, inappropriate behavior, counterfeit items, etc.)
  4. Provide details and any evidence (screenshots, photos)
  5. Submit your report

Include: Your username, the reported user's username, reason for report, and any evidence.

8. Being a Good Community Member

A thriving community depends on each member doing their part. Here's how to be a positive member:

  • Be honest: Accurate listings and fair descriptions protect everyone
  • Be responsive: Reply to messages promptly and keep others informed
  • Be fair: Honor agreements and treat others as you'd like to be treated
  • Be helpful: Answer questions from new users; help them succeed
  • Leave reviews: Your feedback helps others make informed decisions
  • Report problems: Help keep the community safe by reporting violations
  • Invite trusted friends: Grow the community with people you know
  • Respect diversity: Celebrate the variety in our gaming community
